Founder & Executive Director
Rachel Coney-Bowles is the Founder and Executive Director of The Right Shoes, Inc., a workforce readiness and human development organization dedicated to preparing individuals for long-term success.
With over 15 years of experience in elder care and hospice services, more than 10 years working in dementia and palliative care, and over a decade in community program development, Rachel brings a unique blend of public health expertise and community leadership to her work.
She is currently contracting as the Brain Health Coordinator with the Virginia Department of Health, where she leads statewide initiatives focused on Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias (ADRD), health equity, and community-based education. Her work focuses on building systems that connect individuals, communities, and resources—ensuring people are not only supported, but prepared to navigate real-world environments effectively.
Rachel is a Certified Trainer for the Virtual Dementia Tour and author of Control Your Thoughts, Control Your Life. And co-author of multiple publications focused on brain health and public health innovation, with work featured in national journals including Alzheimer’s & Dementia and Innovation in Aging at Oxford University.
Through The Right Shoes, she extends this systems-level approach into mentorship and workforce readiness—focusing on the foundational skills that drive long-term success, including communication, decision-making, accountability, and leadership.
The Right Shoes was founded to address a critical gap—many individuals have the potential to succeed but lack access to the guidance, structure, and skill development needed to sustain success.
Rachel recognized that success is not just about opportunity—it is about preparation.
